Thank you for your interest in the ’48 Hours in Kaikōura’ photography competition.

We are excited to announce that this year marks a significant transition for the ’48 Hours in Kaikoura’ photography competition. As Neroli Gold, the founder and organizer of this respected event, steps into a well-deserved retirement, we, Andrew Spencer and Rachel Gillespie, are honoured to take on the responsibility of continuing this beloved ceremony of photography.
In light of this transition, we are embracing new possibilities and adapting to the changing times. We are excited to announce that we will host a digital-only event for this year’s competition. This means that the entire process will happen online, from entry submissions to judging and the exhibition.
Participants can submit their entries through our online platform, allowing seamless and efficient submissions.
To ensure a fair and impartial judging process, we have invited respected guest judges with expertise in various genres of photography. Their discerning eye and valuable insights will help us recognize and celebrate the exceptional talent within our photography community.
The exhibition of photographs will also be presented in an online format, providing an engaging experience for participants and viewers alike. We are committed to creating a dynamic digital exhibition that captures the essence and beauty of the captured moments.
While this transition year presents unique challenges, we are confident that the digital format will enable us to grow the event, the intention being that as we move forward, we bring back a print exhibition and expand the event further.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Neroli Gold for her dedicated efforts in nurturing this event over the past 20 years. Her legacy will continue to inspire us as we embark on this new chapter.
